DAY 1:
On your way to the Coastal Luxury B&B enjoy a Trott’s Tales tour at Wirra Wirra where you get a behind the scenes tour of their historic ironstone cellars, the chance to ring their famous Angelus Bell, plus a seated tasting of some of their best wines. Following your Wirra Wirra experience check into your accommodation around 3pm.
You will receive an orientation of this delightful property. Time to enjoy a local produce grazing platter and bottle of premium McLaren Vale wine for dinner.
DAY 2:
Your guide Simon will collect you this morning and you will head to McLaren Vale for a private tour of the region. Begin with a 4WD tour into ancient Onkaparinga Gorge to marvel at geology that dates back 600 million years. Enjoy a nature drive to a stunning lookout that takes in the river, vineyard & coast, whilst tracing the links of McLaren Vale’s ancient geology into its modern-day vineyards from the top of the Gorge.
After this breathtaking Gorge experience, you will take a 3hr guided e-bike tour along McLaren Vale’s famous Shiraz Trail. This tour takes in McLaren Vale, Willunga, and the foothills behind both townships. Ride along the Shiraz Trail to Willunga stopping off at famous organic producer, Battle of Bosworth Wines. We then ride back along the foothills to Samson Tall for a tour of their winery and tasting of their beautiful single vineyard wines followed by a two-course lunch & matched wine at Red Poles restaurant and tour of their indigenous art gallery. We finish the ebike component with a ride back to Primo Estate via Wirra Wirra’s famous Chook Block Vineyard.
Mid-afternoon, back in the Land Rover, we will stop in to see the magnificent d’Arenberg Cube Return followed by a masterclass with one of the owners at Bekkers Wine, recently voted one of the top 6 winemakers in the country by Gourmet Traveller Wine. Finish the day with a trip back to your Coastal accommodation via majestic Silver Sands beach, one of the most spectacular wild beach drives on the Fleurieu. Delicious dinner prepared by Laura, wife of Simon your guide. Authentic Italian cuisine prepared just for you, – pasta, salad, tiramisu, and a bottle of museum Shiraz from the owner’s cellar.
DAY 3:
More exploring today, by 4WD tour through the Fleurieu including some of its most pristine beaches, national parks and walking trails. Start the day at Carrickalinga Beach, voted South Australia’s finest by The Lonely Planet in 2019. Fully invigorated we will pop into Little Sister Café in Normanville to savour coffee and their legendary brownies, then head to stunning Second Valley beach and take a walk along the cliffs, out to the old boatyards and rail ramp. We will then head up and explore one of South Australia’s most beautiful and untouched nature reserves at Deep Creek Conservation Park. Take a guided walk along the 3km Goondoloo Ridge Trail to see a plethora of native animals, stunning flora, and spectacular coastal views across to Kangaroo Island. Next stop is remote Blowhole Creek Beach, overlooking Kangaroo Island.
Enjoy a 4WD experience like no other, traversing a dry and dusty trail down to one of the most wild and isolated beaches on the Fleurieu Peninsula. At Blowhole Creek Beach you will walk on the famous Wild South Coast Way, a trail that starts on the Fleurieu and finishes 1200kms away in the Northern Flinders Ranges. We will guide the guests on a narrow part of the trail that skirts the cliff line and provides raw views of Blowhole Creek Beach and the Southern Ocean.
After the walk enjoy a picnic hamper of local produce from the back of a Land Rover Discovery accompanied by a cold glass of sparkling wine, all looking across beautiful Blowhole Creek Beach. In the afternoon we will enjoy a drive to see Morgan’s Beach and the old Talisker Mine ruins, marvel at the resilience of nature slowly reclaiming the ruins of these historic silver mines.
