The Majestic Marlborough Sounds
There’s nothing Luxury Bound loves more than introducing an entirely new and original experience to our clients.
We crafted a special New Zealand itinerary for our longstanding client Sharon. She wanted to a mixture of adventure, luxury, and fabulous food and wine. She was blown away by her experience, particularly the unforgettable walking expedition around the scenic Queen Charlotte Track. And of course, sampling the region’s famous Sauvignon Blanc. Read what Sharon had to say below.
The food and wine
“The Marlborough Sound is most definitely the hub of the South Island for food and wine and it offers exceptional quality. It has long been famous for its Sauvignon Blanc and now is also host to some of the most gorgeous wineries in New Zealand, serving up a taster of locally farmed oysters, scallops, salmon, clams and green lipped mussels. Absolutely delicious. The region offers such a diversity of flavours in one compact, convenient location.”
Queen Charlotte Track
“The trip out and arrival into Ship Cove is simply stunning. Ship Cove itself is of huge historical interest for NZ, being a popular hang out for Captain Cook when he visited. The actual spot is a gorgeous cove with manicured grass lawns, intricate Maori carvings with historical monuments and tales of old to read and meander past.
Track was steepish as you leave Ship Cove but definitely not too strenuous for the fitter walker, then immediately you arrive into gorgeous bush with stunning sea views along the way. I just loved walking through the bush from tropical Punga Ferns to deep Beech forests.
“We stayed at Punga, a delightfully simple property with the extremely friendly staff. The food was really good, it was super clean, the grounds very well kept and setting just magic. It had such an authentic feel.”
