Why the Artic?
Polar bears were the drawcard for me.
Witnessing polar bears on sea ice was a privilege few are fortunate to experience. These iconic Arctic species face dire challenges as sea ice diminishes. Visiting Svalbard sooner rather than later would be my recommendation. The polar bears are slowly adapting their behaviours and foraging habits to survive. Urgent conservation efforts are crucial to protect these majestic creatures.
Svalbard is a nature and wildlife lover's dream - home to some of the most rare animal and bird life on earth. The Canadian High Arctic and Greenland are remote and perfect destinations for hard-core adventurers, looking for the complete Arctic experience. Tiny Inuit settlements, museums, culture, fjords, glaciers, trekking to name a few reasons to visit this area.
These are remote and captivating lands, a blend of natural wonders and thrilling adventures.
My next visit is to the Canadian High Arctic, Greenland and Iceland. I'm expecting a blend of cultural immersion, hiking, zodiac explorations alongside icebergs and maybe a glacier caving. I anticipate more Polar bears, beluga whales, narwhals and much more!
